To become a Registered Dietitian (RD), you need to go through formal training that is approved by the Dietetics Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The training consists of obtaining an approved college degree through an accredited program (extensive education in nutrition, biology, anatomy, physiology, food safety, science, drug and nutrient interactions, and disease states), 1200 internship hours, and passing a national credentialing exam. To keep your credentialing, all RD's will need to maintain specified continuing education hours. Starting in 2024, all new RD's will need to hold a Graduate degree to be licensed. Currently, licensure to practice varies between states.
A nutritionist is someone who is self-taught, generally through a third-party program followed by an exam that is most likely curated by the third party. There is no standardized requirements or licensure needed. For more information check out the blog post I wrote on this topic.

Vegetarian-ish. I am plant-based, and for me personally that means I eat fish from time to time but no land animals. I will admit, for me, this was an easy decision and I made it eons ago! I never was a big meat eater, even as a child. My freshman year of high school was when I decided to stop eating meat. All meat. My love for animals was my true determining factor and I just stopped cold turkey (no pun intended). I didn’t crave it, didn’t miss it, didn’t want it, and still don’t. This wasn’t to say I didn’t have my hiccups. Sometime after quitting meat, I realized I wasn’t eating correctly. I was missing a lot of key nutrients in my diet and ultimately had to incorporate poultry back in for a short period of time. I re-evaluated how to eat properly as a vegetarian-ish, and never looked back.
Absolutely not!
As I have mentioned before, everyone has individual wants and needs. There is no ‘one size fits all.’ A plant-based lifestyle is just what works for me.
The clients I work with have varying food preferences, some of which include meat. Additionally, when I cook, I always think about how I could incorporate meat into a dish. I don’t want to deter people from trying recipes because there is no meat. All in all, no meat works for me, but I completely understand that no meat is not an option for everyone. Individualization is key!
At the present time I do not accept insurance. However, upon request, a SUPERBILL will be provided which can be sent to your insurance company for possible reimbursement under your out-of-network benefits. A SUPERBILL is not used in place of payment.
If a payment plan is something that better suits your lifestyle, I am more than happy to discuss options that might work best for you!
If and when I partner with a brand, it is because I truly believe in and use that product. I will never recommend a product that I have not used and don’t love. However, that doesn’t always mean the product will work for you as it has worked for me. What you can count on, is a thorough review of the product I have partnered with so that you may decide if you’d like to give it a try. Please reach out with any questions you may have concerning products I have partnered with.
